Terracon acquires NORCAL Geophysical ConsultantsOLATHE, Kan. – Terracon, a leading provider of environmental, facilities, geotechnical, and materials engineering services, is pleased to announce the acquisition of NORCAL Geophysical Consultants, Inc. of Sonoma County, Calif. Terracon is retaining NORCAL’s 11 employees.

Founded in 1983, NORCAL offers geophysical technologies in support of geologic, groundwater, environmental, and engineering investigations. NORCAL’s capabilities, including their unique geophysical expertise, complement Terracon’s existing services and broaden the service offerings for clients across the country.

“Bringing NORCAL into the Terracon organization supports our commitment to client service,” said David Gaboury, P.E., president and CEO of Terracon. “Adding their expertise allows us to further enhance our Pacific Coast resources and increases our ability to quickly mobilize staff to meet changing client needs.”

NORCAL’s geophysicists and geologists provide services during the planning, design, and construction phases of infrastructure and other facilities, the assessment of environmental conditions, and the evaluation of earth resources. Its clients include national private and public companies and state, local, and municipal government agencies.

The company operates as NORCAL Geophysical Consultants, A Terracon Company, as of the October 31 closing.

“Terracon’s national presence and complementary service offerings make this a great opportunity for NORCAL clients,” said Ken Blom, NORCAL president and founder. “Joining Terracon gives our clients tremendous access to an expanded list of service capabilities. We look forward to demonstrating to our clients the value of having those resources in-house.”

The acquisition further strengthens Terracon’s western U.S. presence as NORCAL becomes the company’s fourth Pacific Coast purchase in the past two years. Terracon’s strong and growing presence now includes NORCAL, Argus Pacific, Inc. of Seattle, RGA Environmental, Inc. of Oakland, Calif., and Neil O. Anderson and Associates of Lodi, Sacramento, and Concord, Calif.

Terracon is an employee-owned engineering consulting firm with more than 3,500 employees providing environmental, facilities, geotechnical, and materials services from more than 150 offices in 42 states. Terracon currently ranks 35th on Engineering News-Record’s List of Top 500 Design Firms. For additional information about Terracon, please visit: www.terracon.com.
