Community Sponsors

Community level sponsors can contribute relevant books (new or used in good condition), gift cards, software, or other items that can be used for prizes or giveaways to GeoPrac.net members and visitors. Also accepted are shirts and hats with your company logo, and other promotional items (subject to Randy’s approval). Read below for how we plan to use these items in building community. We welcome the offer to ship the item(s) directly to the contest winners!

• Text/hyperlink listing in the Community Sponsors section of the Sponsor’s page.
• When the terms of the contest or giveaway are decided upon and agreeable to both you and Randy, there will be a post made at GeoPrac.net in the same way conventional news items are published. In it will be the terms of the giveaway, a description of the item or items to be won, and you can provide a brief company bio with links to your website. If the value of the item(s) is $75 or more, a logo 125x125 pixels or smaller will be added in the same location as well.

Why We Need Sponsors

Creating Community

This website has been a labor of love for me. I always wanted to merge my geotechnical career with my after-hours website hobby/consulting. I’m proud of what I have created, but I think GeoPrac.net has yet to tap its full potential.

So far you have seen that I personally have done the vast majority of the GeoNews posting along with a few generous Article contributors. Through financial sponsorship and the donations of “Community Sponsors”, I hope to entice more GeoPrac members and visitors to get involved through leaving comments on news and articles and hopefully contributing GeoNews and other items themselves. Another goal is to get people to provide comments on news and articles. My thought is that by creating simple giveaways and similar contests, it might give people some additional incentive to get involved and therefore get comfortable with the process. By increasing community involvement, I hope to increase the quality and hopefully the popularity of the site (which also increases the value of your sponsorship!).

I envision these giveaways having a wide variety of potential prizes or items to be won with a wide variety of dollar values. Initially, the cash value of the items will be low, but as the site gains in popularity, hopefully the value of the items will grow proportionally.

Some ideas include hats, shirts or other logo-emblazoned items from your company (subject to my approval), relevant tools of the trade such as rock hammers, backpacks, GPS, geotechnical or geological books, software etc., gift cards or other gadgets such as PSP’s, cameras, etc. The cash from sponsorship will be needed to mail out these items to the contest winners as well. Of course if Community Sponsors are willing to ship them directly to the winner, even better!
